In short
The Granny Slags guides cover casual dating over 60 from both sides of an age gap: how to agree expectations and discretion, how to meet a date safely, and how to spot and report romance scams. Each guide links to official sources such as the NHS, police reporting services and government scam agencies, and shows when it was last updated.
Start here
If you read one thing, make it the age-gap casual dating guide. It covers what each person in an age-gap arrangement is usually hoping for, the assumptions that spoil things, how to say what you want before you meet, what "discreet" should mean, and where money fits in.
Which guide answers your question?
Each guide answers one practical question in full. Pick the one that matches where you are.
| Your question | Read |
|---|---|
| How do we make an age gap work for both of us? | Age-gap casual dating |
| What should I do before, during and after a first date? | Meeting a casual date safely |
| Is this person genuine, and what if they ask for money? | Romance scams and how to report them |
| What does the site check, and how does consent work? | Safety and consent |
| What's free, what's paid, and who can see my profile? | How Granny Slags works |
Who these guides are for
They're written for two readers at once: people over 60, mostly women, who want casual dating on their own terms, and the adults of any age who'd like to meet them. Neither gets lectured.
You'll find practical steps, the questions worth asking each other, example messages clearly marked as examples, and the official numbers to call if something goes wrong. There's no padding and nothing invented: no made-up members, quotes or statistics.
If you're coming back to dating after a long marriage, a bereavement or simply years of not bothering, start with the age-gap guide and the meeting-safely checklist. They assume no prior knowledge of dating sites, and they explain the jargon as they go.
All guides
- Age-gap casual dating: making it good for both of youHow to make a casual age-gap arrangement good for both of you: expectations, assumptions, discretion, money and a safe first meeting.
- Meeting a casual date safely after 60: a checklistA practical checklist for a first casual date: before, during and after, plus what to do if something goes wrong.
- Romance scams that target older daters, and how to report themHow romance scams build, the warning signs, why casual daters are targeted too, and exactly where to report in each country.
Staying safe, wherever you are
Two guides do the practical safety work. The meeting-safely checklist takes you from the first video call to the check-in text on the way home. The romance scams guide shows how scams build, step by step, and where to report one in each country.
For local services, including free sexual health testing and fraud reporting, see our country pages:
- UK: NHS sexual health clinics and home testing in each nation, Report Fraud, the 159 bank line and sexual violence support.
- Australia: free STI testing with a Medicare card, Scamwatch and ReportCyber, IDCARE and 1800RESPECT.
- Ireland: free HSE clinics and home test kits, and reporting romance fraud to the Gardaí.
Health guides: reviewed before they're published
Guides about sex and health after menopause, and about STI testing, are held back until a qualified clinician has reviewed them. We'd rather publish them late than publish them wrong. In the meantime, the country pages above point to official health services, which are free and confidential in the UK and Ireland and usually free with a Medicare card in Australia.
How we write these
Each guide is written for readers rather than search engines, cites its sources at the foot of the page, and shows when it was last updated. Health information comes from official health services; scam and crime advice from police and government agencies. If something has changed, tell us; our about page explains how.
Questions people ask
I'm new to dating after a long gap. Where should I start?
Start with the age-gap casual dating guide, even if the gap between you and the people you like is small. It covers the conversation that matters most: what each of you wants, how often, and what discretion means. Then read the meeting-safely checklist before your first date, and keep the romance scams guide in mind for anyone who seems too keen, too fast.
Are these guides only for women over 60?
No. They're written for two readers at once: people over 60, mostly women, who want casual dating on their own terms, and the adults of any age who'd like to meet them. Each guide looks at the same situation from both sides, because an arrangement only works if both people feel respected and safe.
Do you have guides on sex and health after menopause?
Guides on intimacy after menopause and STI testing over 60 are written, but they're held back until a qualified clinician has reviewed them. Until then, our UK, Australia and Ireland pages point to free, confidential official services, such as NHS sexual health clinics, HSE clinics and Australian state health services, and a GP or pharmacist is the right first call.
How do I know the information is current?
Every guide lists its sources at the foot of the page, linking to the organisation that published each fact, and shows the date it was last updated. Phone numbers and reporting routes come from official services. If you find something that has changed, tell us through the members help centre with the page address, and we'll check and correct it.
